GNT4SRHR Skills-building with representatives of Ministries of Health, Gender/Womens Affairs, Education and Justice, and Parliamentarians
We had a rich week with intersectional advocacy & inspired learning!
We pioneered the first GNT4SRHR Skills-building with representatives of Ministries of Health, Gender/Womens Affairs, Education and Justice, and Parliamentarians; from 14 SADC Member States; under the Regional TLivesSHARP Programme (generously supported by Sida – Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete). The Skills-building was framed around the SAfAIDS #GNT (gender norms transformation) for #SRHR Model; to catalyse a #GenderResponsive approach by policy-makers, in their domesticating the “Regional Sexual Violence Response Guidelines for Adolescents and Young People”. Policy-makers pledged as Gender Champions, in solidarity with “Ubuntu Means ZeroSGBV4Africa’ Campaign
A Regional Policy Consultative Caucus was convened, sequel to the Skills-building, with policy-makers & representatives of SADC Secretariat Gender Unit and Offices of Deputy Prime Ministers. The Caucus affirmed continued commitment by policy-makers to domesticate the Guidelines into national policy & practice; against the domestication plans they developed in 2023, under the TLivesSHARP Programme.
