Call to Action – ESA Commitment on CSE and Adolescent SRHR

This Call to Action was developed by Frontline AIDS, SAfAIDS and LVCT Health Kenya drawing on consultations with civil society and youth advocates from over 200 organisations, across 20 countries who are championing comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and promoting adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across East and Southern Africa.

The new Commitment builds on historic pledges that our governments have made on adolescent SRHR, including the Education for All Dakar Framework for Action (2000), the Abuja Declaration and Framework for Action on HIV/AIDS (2001), the African Youth Charter (2006), the SADC Framework of Action for Sustainable Financing for Health and HIV (2014), the Continental Education strategy for Africa CESA (2016 – 2025), the Maputo Plan of Action for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and the Catalytic Framework to end AIDS, TB and Malaria by 2030 (2016), the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development (2016), the SADC Sexual and Reproductive Health and  Rights (SRHR) Strategy (2019–2030), the recent Political Declaration on Ending AIDS and Generation Equality Global Acceleration Plan (2021) as well as commitments made at the Nairobi Summit on ICPD +25 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
