Position:         Monitoring, Evaluation and Research (MER) Officer

Placement:     Zimbabwe Country Office


SAfAIDS is a regional NGO working across the SADC region, as a trendsetter in promoting integrated effective and ethical development responses to SRHR, by enabling Gender Equality, Social Inclusion and Resilience for All. SAfAIDS is looking for an innovative, dynamic and experienced professional with a trail-blazing record to join the SAfAIDS Monitoring, Evaluation and Research (MER) team as an Officer in the Zimbabwe Country Office. The candidate must have outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The MER Officer will be responsible for generation and reporting of high-quality programmes data through ensuring that data is collated, analysed and reported in a timely manner; provision of M&E capacity building to SAfAIDS and partners’ staff; and overseeing that data collection and reporting tools and other M&E tools are being appropriately utilised by programmes and partners’ staff. This position will also ensure effective and efficient electronic data management and compilation of M&E reports to illustrate progress against set targets. The MER Officer will be responsible for developing log frames, results frameworks, performance monitoring plans (PMPs), and designing Theories of Change (TOCs) and related M&E and research tools. The MER Officer will support the Regional MER activities. The MER Officer may be required to supervise consultants, data capturers, officers and Graduate Trainees. The position requires a candidate with a balance between strong technical skills, analytical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills, which are collaborative and progressive. He/She will be expected to ensure efficient and quality delivery of country initiatives, through applying skilled mentoring, effective planning and motivational approaches with programming teams.


  • A Degree in statistics, operations research, economics, Information Systems or any social sciences or other relevant field.
  • A Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Population Studies, statistics or any relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of at least 2-5 years relevant experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills.
  • Conversant with database development and data management, SPSS/STATA/SAS, Excel and Access.
  • Experience in use of mobile phones for MER.
  • Cooperative interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
